I am designing two characters for a short film. The Director knows what he wants. We try to find out some nice forms for his characters. They should dance tango!

Designs of a boy

The process of character designing is an amazing work of deciding and trying. Today I am satisfied with the results but I am not sure about tomorrow. I think that designing something need a time to be able to find out new ideas. But we all are looking for the “happy end” too. 

Baba Yaga

I have made the final design for the main character Baba Yaga and the mood picture for the scene at home.

I have made the next designs of my Character. Also some examples for the forest inhabitants.

I am working further on the main Character Yaga. Especially interesting is to find the simplified shape for the head and hair. I really like this unusual long nose!

There is my first result for the character Yaga. As you can see I have tried some different shapes and forms for the body and face. After this exercise I have found one more interesting for me design. I want that Baba Yaga isn’t very old und very fat but in some way untidy. The long chin and nose are the main attributes for Yaga. And the body should be a little bit bony owing to arms and hands.

I am working on my next short film “ Baba Yaga” that should be made in 2D animation. I think to produce it with a new for me application TVPaint.

At a time I am looking for nice and appealing Characters. There are some sketches for the main Figures.
